The Healing Energy of Reiki

What do you really know about Reiki?
Sometimes we resist trying something new because we don't understand it. While this is normal, it can keep you from missing out on a truly healing experience.
So, let's take this time to demystify Reiki so you can understand what it is, it's benefits and how it can be used to charge crystals.
A Brief History of Reiki
Although it has been in existence for thousands of years, the Reiki we know today actually doesn't date back too far. About 100 years ago, a Japanese Buddhist monk named Mikao Usui discovered Reiki energy and began teaching it to his students. In the mid-1900s it was brought to the United States by way of Hawayo Takata Sensei who spread the knowledge of Reiki in Hawaii.
What is Reiki?
Reiki is literally translated to mean "rei" (universal) "ki" (life energy).
It is an energy healing therapy that is passed from teacher to student through defined practices, teachings, and attunements. Students learn how to channel universal energy through the palms of their hands. They draw on the loving healing energy and focuses it into atoms and cells to bring them into balance and harmony.
Reiki operates under the idea that when a part of the body is injured or diseased, the energy becomes stagnant or stuck. Using Reiki unblocks that energy and allows it to flow freely. It is similar to how acupuncture and qi gong works.
You can receive Reiki in person or with permission a practitioner may do a long-distance reiki healing.
What are the Benefits of Reiki?
Reiki is experienced differently within each individual. However, these are the most common benefits reported by people who have received Reiki energy.
- Reduce pain
- Promote relaxation
- Strengthen the immune system
- Reduce stress
- Lessen other symptoms of illness
- Balances energies
- Better sleep
How to Use Crystals in Reiki
Although it is not required, many people use crystals in both in-person and long-distance reiki healings to amplify the energy. Using crystals in reiki is not necessary, but it is certainly complimentary as crystals inherently have energetic properties that affect our emotions and physical being. Crystals are a powerful helper in Reiki because they are able to help assist clearing with energy blocks or add positive energy where needed. A few ideas of how a practitioner may incorporate crystals into their Reiki practice include:
- Assisting in balancing chakras.
- Cleansing the energy of a room before a session.
- Under table or chair where they will practice Reiki.
- Placing crystals on different parts of the body to enhance energy flow.
How Can Reiki Be Used to Charge Crystals?
After crystals have been cleansed of any unwanted energies, your crystals can be charged to imbue them with new energy. Reiki practitioners may choose to charge those crystals with that loving energy.
One way to do this is by projecting Reiki symbols onto the crystals. A Reiki practitioner holds the crystal in one hand and draws a power symbol over the crystal. You may also choose to charge the crystal with Reiki energy by asking them to be a tool of love and harmony.
