Balancing the Third Eye (Ajna) Chakra

But, what can you do about it if it is imbalanced? So much! And I am going to cover all of that.
Before we get into it, let's get super clear on what it actually is.
What Is Your Third Eye Chakra?
The third eye chakra is located between the two brows in the middle of the forehead. In meditation, you can imagine it as a swirling purple or indigo spiral.
It is the mind chakra, associated with the brain, pituitary gland, and pineal gland.
The Sanskrit word for the third eye chakra is "Ajna", which translates to "perception".
Why Balance Your Third Eye Chakra?
What comes to mind when you think about the third eye? Perhaps you have heard that it is the seat of your intuition. Maybe you have told yourself the story that you don't have any psychic abilities, you can't listen to your intuition because you're too much in your head.
For a moment, consider that perhaps you one thing you can do to awaken these abilities within yourself is to spend time opening and balancing your third eye chakra (because you can).
When your third eye chakra is balanced, you are more easily able to be in touch with the intangible and the unexplainable. The gifts of clairvoyance and clairaudience come more easily and naturally.
As you begin to balance your third eye chakra, your intuition starts to awaken and blossom and you begin to trust in that feeling as you take inspired, intuitive action.
You are focused on your mission, tuning out worries and fears and instead tuning into your soul. You know that nothing is or can hold you back. It is only you.
How Do You Know If Your Third Eye Chakra Is Imbalanced?
Before we get into how to balance your third eye chakra, let's get clear on what symptoms show up with an imbalanced third eye chakra.
With a third eye chakra imbalance, you might feel stuck in your life. You don't know what your next step is and you don't have a clear vision of what you want your life to look like. When a problem arises, you are hyper-focused on that, rather than seeing the bigger picture which can allow the solution to arise.
Physically, an imbalance in your third eye chakra can manifest as headaches, depression, anxiety, nightmares, sleep disorders, and obsessiveness.
How To Balance Your Third Eye Chakra
Now that you understand all about the third eye chakra, let's dive into tools you can start applying to your life to balance it:
- Wear indigo or purple clothes
- Practice yoga poses such as downdog, plow, wide-legged forward fold, and lotus
- Diffuse or wear scents such as sandalwood, cypress, frankincense, juniper and almond blossom
- Practice affirmations such as, "I listen to my inner wisdom. I listen to my intuition. I am open to receiving inner guidance. I am intuitive. I am at peace."
- Eat purple foods
- Get enough sleep.
- Practice meditation
- Wear or meditate with purple crystals such as amethyst, purple fluorite, moldavite and black obsidian.
